VComm Terrain Server Status

ID:  2044

Object Description

The VComm Terrain Server Status object is used to monitor the status of the VComm Terrain Server (VTS). A value of -1 indicates that the VTS is not active. Any other value is the amount of time in seconds it takes VComm to request and receive a terrain propagation loss solution from the VTS. This object's output can be used to send VTS status to a host computer.

VComm will only issue a request to the VTS if an antenna has moved more than the Transmitter Position Threshold. This value defaults to 500 meters, and can be changed through a VCOMM registry key value. Refer to the VComm User's Manual for more information.

To use this object, simply connect a No Connection object to the output pin, start V+, right click on the output pin, and select Monitor. A monitor value will appear on the output pin.

Output Pin

RT DELAY

The RunTime DELAY pin provides a floating point number indicating the amount of time, in seconds, it takes VComm to request and receive a terrain propagation loss solution from the VTS. A value of -1 indicates that the VTS is not active.

Example

The figures below present examples of how the VComm Terrain Server Status object is used. Example 1 shows that the VTS is not active. Example 2 provides an output value of 0.001477 seconds (or 1.477 milliseconds) of round trip latency from the time of request to the time of receipt.
